Who We Are

Founded in 1982 by a group of independent pharmacy owners, Rx Plus Pharmacies, Inc. is a member-owned purchasing cooperative. Its members represent over 90 percent of the independent pharmacies in Colorado. Member pharmacies are also located in Alaska, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. This dedicated group of pharmacists continues to expand its membership across the country.


Rx Plus provides members with significant economic benefits. Pooling the volume of its membership pharmacies, Rx Plus is able to negotiate competitive contracts with drug wholesalers and suppliers, which in turn leads to a lower cost of goods. Rx Plus is a true purchasing cooperative and returns substantially larger profits to member pharmacies when compared to most similar organizations.

A valuable resource for independent pharmacies, Rx Plus provides ongoing, customized educational, political, marketing and legal support for its members.

RxPlus provides a resource team to keep members up to date on new education requirements, new marketing opportunities and industry changes. Live continuing education opportunities are offered to members such as immunization and CPR certification.

Our commitment to preserving the future of community pharmacy includes semester-long courses to pharmacy students on pharmacy management along with scholarships for students interested in community practice. RxPlus is committed to helping independent community pharmacies remain independent. Member benefits include a forum that allows community pharmacy owners to network with potential pharmacy buyers.

Pooling independent voices to influence state legislatures and Congress dramatically change how health care is delivered. RxPlus advocacy includes a full time lobbyist along with a contract lobbying firm at assure the community pharmacy voice is heard. Whether it is a governor mandating managed care, a state agency decision to cut pharmacy reimbursements without regard to disbursement costs or an effort to mandate mail-order discount programs, RxPlus is a prime advocate for community pharmacy.
